Use this AutoMeter 5291 VSS adapter to convert your mechanical speedometer takeoff or electronic sensor-style speedometer output to an electronic pulse output. They are designed for use in custom installations, early model transmission applications, and all AutoMeter electronic speedometers. AutoMeter vehicle speed sensors generate the signal you need to make installing an AutoMeter electric speedometer in your vehicle quick and easy. Compatible with GM and Chrysler transmissions with a 7/8 in -18 threaded speedometer cable output, this vehicle speed sensor outputs a 16 pulse per revolution (PPR), 12v square wave signal. Featuring a mechanical cable output, this sensor has the ability to retain the mechanical cable in applications with mechanically driven cruise control. Adapts most GM and Chrysler transmissions with speedometer cable output; this VSS adapter / sending unit is designed for use with Auto Meter speedometers only and will not work with OEM speedometers under any circumstances.
