Our Ford Dana 60 King Pin disc brake bracket kit allows you to use the superior GM (Chevrolet or GMC) Silverado or Sierra HD factory front calipers, pads, and rotors. These brackets fit the 1978-1991 Ford Dana 60 King Pin front axles, not the Ball joint axles. Our brackets will allow you to retain your stock single wheel 2000-2010 HD brakes; these brackets do not work with "dually" rotors and calipers. IMPORTANT: These brackets are NOT a simple "bolt-on" kit; you will really need to pay attention to caliper and speed sensor clearances and you will need to cut or grind one of the bars on the OEM GM caliper "cage" to clear the Ford knuckles.
These HD Disk Brake Brackets will allow you to run your factory 2000-2010 Chevrolet Silverado HD or GMC Sierra HD Rotors and Brake Calipers on a single wheel Ford front Dana 60 King Pin solid axle. Of course this is great for SAS conversions but it is also great for guys running King Pin Ford D60's that simply want to upgrade their brakes! The brackets have a hole in them to work with our ABS kit in case you want to run the factory GM ABS speed sensor if you want to which of course we strongly suggest unless your truck is strictly for off-road use. If you do decide that you want to keep the ABS then you will need to purchase our ABS Kit which includes the custom sized tone rings and speed sensor mounts and you will also have to have one more part of your wheel hubs machined to allow the use of the tone rings.
We suggest using the OEM GM 14mm wheel studs in the Ford hub; you can re-use the studs that were in your stock unit-bearings. The OEM GM studs will press right into 80-91 Ford wheel hubs; if you have 78-79 Ford wheel hubs you will need to drill out the hubs slightly before you press the 14mm studs in.
To run the GM Brakes on the Ford axle, your Ford wheel hubs will need the OD of the wheel mount flange (vertical part with the wheel studs in it) turned down about 1/16 of an inch or so in order for the rotor to fit over it from the outside and become a floating style rotor. Depending on the Ford hub casting, you may also need to machine the surface of the hub snout near the wheel flange surface in order for the GM rotor to fit all the way over the hub snout. If you decide to keep the ABS, you will also need to machine the inner edge of the hub for the tone ring to press on; the sensor will end up pressing on 1/4 inch past the back surface of the hub which provides clearance to prevent it from hitting the spindle nuts when rotating.
Las but not least, you will need to grind or cut the center bar out of the caliper slider (caliper cage) between the bolt holes and grind the small casting knob / caliper stop of the calipers in order to get them to clear the Ford knuckle and slide without any interference.
The brackets are made out of 1/2 inch steel plate and they include 1/2 inch bolts and crush nuts. The brackets are sold as a pair, Driver Side and Passenger Side.
See the pictures of the installed finished product on an Americas Most Wanted 4x4 Jeep project in the product image gallery. Note that the brackets are raw steel and A.M.W.4x4 coated them blue for their build.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Depending on the wheel hub casting and the brand of rotors used, it MAY BE required for the outer circumference of the Hubs Wheel Mount Flanges as well as the hub snout close to the wheel mount flange to be turned down slightly in order for the GM HD brake rotor to fit over the Ford hub. The stock GM HD Wheel Studs can and should be used in the Ford hub to keep all the threads the same on the truck and help ensure proper GM rotor fitment. These brackets will NOT WORK on dually front axles.
